Gas or electric heating? A simple question, but rarely a simple answer.
We see a growing interest in electrification across the ceramics industry. And for good reasons: electric heating enables excellent temperature control and can even improve product quality.
So why isn’t everything already electric?
Because the real challenge is often not inside the kiln, but outside of it.
Power availability, grid capacity, and long-term energy supply are becoming decisive factors. In many cases, the question is not whether an electric solution is technically superior, but whether it can be reliably operated at scale.
Gas-fired systems therefore remain highly relevant, depending on location and infrastructure. Retrofitting existing gas kilns with our EnerViT H2-ready technology can be a highly valuable solution in there cases as it allows for highly efficient gas firing, with the future option to gradually add up to 100 % hydrogen to the mix!
Choosing the right solution is not about following a trend.
It’s about aligning process requirements with what is realistically achievable.
